Terms of Service
Effective October 29, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Handiers Inc., a Delaware corporation based in California (“Handiers”, “we”, “us”) for your use of coffeechat.me and related services (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can use coffeechat.me
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, request a coffee chat or accept one. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you can form a binding agreement.
You may only have one account, and you must not create an account on someone else’s behalf without their permission.
2. Your account and sign-in
You sign in with Google or with your phone number through our authentication provider. You are responsible for keeping access to that Google account or phone number secure, and for everything that happens under your account.
Tell us right away at support@coffeechat.me if you think someone else has accessed your account.
3. Text message (SMS) notifications
If you sign in with your phone number, you can choose to receive coffee chat notifications by SMS from coffeechat.me, such as new requests, replies and confirmed chats. SMS notifications are optional and are not required to use the service. You can turn them on or off at any time in My home → Account.
Message frequency varies with your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. You can also contact us at support@coffeechat.me. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We handle your phone number as described in our Privacy Policy. Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
4. Your username and page
When you sign up you choose a username, which becomes your link at coffeechat.me/yourname. Usernames must not be offensive, misleading, or impersonate another person, brand or organization, and must not infringe anyone’s trademark.
We may refuse, change or reclaim a username, for example if it breaks these Terms, is reserved for the service, or is the subject of a valid trademark complaint. We will try to tell you first when we can.
Your profile page (name, one-liner, About, topics, home city and like count) is public. Anyone with your link can see it, and it may be found by search engines.
5. Coffee chat requests and replies
coffeechat.me helps people ask each other for a conversation and agree on a place and time. A request, a reply, a suggested café, a confirmed time or a “Coffee’s on me” note is an informal social arrangement between the two people involved. It is not a contract with us, and we do not process payments.
Either person can decline, ignore or change a request or reply at any time. We do not guarantee that anyone will respond, show up, or that a chat will happen.
Do not use requests to sell products or services, recruit for unrelated schemes, ask for money, or send bulk or automated messages.
6. Meeting in person — please read
We do not run background checks, verify identities beyond your sign-in, or screen the people you meet. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline.
- Meet in a public place, such as the café you agreed on.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when.
- Arrange your own transportation and keep your phone with you.
- Do not share financial information, and never send money to someone you meet through the service.
- Leave if you feel uncomfortable, and report the person to us.
If you are in danger, contact local emergency services first.
7. Café and map information
Café names, addresses, opening hours and map data come from third-party sources (Amazon Location Service and OpenStreetMap contributors via OpenFreeMap). They may be incomplete or out of date. We are not affiliated with any café listed, and a café appearing on the map is not an endorsement. Check details with the café before you go.
8. Rules of conduct
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against or abuse anyone;
- post content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful, violent, or that you do not have the right to share;
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are or your affiliations;
- collect other users’ information, or scrape, crawl or copy the service by automated means;
- interfere with the service, probe its security, or get around access limits;
- use the service for any illegal purpose or to break anyone else’s rights.
9. Content you post
You keep ownership of the content you post, such as your profile, messages and notes. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate and improve the service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons or that were already shared with the other person in a chat.
You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to post it.
10. Reporting and enforcement
You can report a user, page or message by emailing support@coffeechat.me. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that we believe break these Terms or put others at risk, with or without notice.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using coffeechat.me at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@coffeechat.me. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as content licenses already granted for shared messages, disclaimers, limits of liability and disputes) will survive.
12. Changes to the service
coffeechat.me is a new service and may change, add or remove features, or stop operating. We are not liable to you for these changes.
13. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty about the conduct of other users or the accuracy of café and map information.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Handiers Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your interactions or meetings with other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
15. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Handiers Inc. against claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, your interactions with other users, or your breach of these Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you through the service or by other reasonable means before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
